BRING IT ON, BITCH!

Now, she [Michelle Obama] is ready to spew her bilious disgust with America on the campaign trail. A dignified, transcendent first lady? No chance. Michelle is going to break with a hundred years of tradition and play the role of attack dog, heaping derision on her husband’s political opponents like no other first lady before her.
A few months into her job as first lady, her French counterpart asked how she liked the gig: “Don’t ask!” she reportedly spat. “It’s hell. I can’t stand it!”
She’s traveled to some of the world’s most plush resorts, taking 42 days off in the past year – YEAH, SHE HATES IT!  And if she hates her job so much, why is she trying so hard to keep it!
“Let’s not forget about what it meant when my husband appointed two brilliant Supreme Court justices” Michelle said.
AND THAT IS THE VERY REASON YOUR HUSBAND HAS TO BE DEFEATED!  AMERICA CANNOT AFFORD MORE LEFT-WING NUTJOBS ON THE HIGH COURT!

WHY DO OBAMA AND THE LEFT DEMONIZE CEOs?

The AVERAGE salary for the top 10 highest paid celebrities is $100,000,000 while the AVERAGE salary for the top 10 highest paid CEO’s is $43,000,000.

So why does Obama go after the CEO’s?  Why does he want to put a cap on their salary?  Why did Obama want to run General Motors?  Why did Obama force the banks to take bailouts?

If you gave the most obvious answer - that Hollywood supports the left, you would be wrong.  It’s all about power.  Politicians can ‘control’ corporations by controlling those at the top.  By running GM, Obama could force them to build the Volt.  By holding the sword over the banking industry, the banks can be forced to make bad loans.  Politicians can’t have any power over celebrities without serious repercussions.

Excerpts from another brilliant article by Walter E. Williams…..
Why is it that rich CEOs are demonized and not celebrities? A clue might be found if you asked: Who's doing the demonizing? It turns out that the demonizing is led by politicians and leftists with the help of the news media, and like sheep, the public often goes along. .. Why demonize CEOs?  If all CEOs worked for nothing, it would mean absolutely little or nothing to the average American's bottom line.
For politicians, it's another story: Demonize people whose power you want to usurp. That's the typical way totalitarians gain power.  They give the masses someone to hate.  In 18th-century France, it was Maximilien Robespierre's promoting hatred of the aristocracy that was the key to his acquiring more dictatorial power than the aristocracy had ever had. In the 20th century, the communists gained power by promoting public hatred of the czars and capitalists.  In Germany, Adolf Hitler gained power by promoting hatred of Jews and Bolsheviks.  In each case, the power gained led to greater misery and bloodshed than anything the old regime could have done…
I am saying that promoting jealousy, fear and hate is an effective strategy for politicians and their liberal followers to control and micromanage businesses.  It's not about the amount of money people earn. If it were, politicians and leftists would be promoting jealousy, fear and hate toward multimillionaire Hollywood and celebrities and sports stars, such as LeBron James ($48 million), Tiger Woods ($75 million) and Peyton Manning ($38 million). But there is no way that politicians could take over the roles of Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and LeBron James. That means celebrities can make any amount of money they want and it matters not one iota politically.
The Occupy Wall Street crowd shouldn't focus its anger at wealthy CEOs. A far more appropriate target would be the U.S. Congress.

OBAMA: AN HONEST MAN

The Obama Miracle, a White House Free of Scandal: Jonathan Alter
By Jonathan Alter Oct 27, 2011 7:45 PM ET

President Barack Obama goes into the 2012 with a weak economy that may doom his reelection. But he has one asset that hasn’t received much attention: He’s honest.

I’m going to shoot myself in the face now in an attempt to escape this parallel universe………..

DEMAGOGUERY AT IT’S FINEST

The left loves to tout polls that show Congress ranked lower than Obama.  And in fact, Congress does have low numbers.  But don’t be disheartened – the presidential election is a NATIONAL election.  Congressional elections are LOCAL… many, many have the feeling of ‘throw the bums out’ but when you dig deeper, most like THEIR bum – it’s everyone else’s bum they want to throw out.

Comparing Obama’s abysmal numbers with those of Congress is like comparing apples to oranges (to quote Herman Cain).  Members of Congress only need to worry about their own state/district – what the country thinks of them matters not a bit.

IT'S SURPRISING THE TEACHER GOT PERMISSION FOR THIS....

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten.  On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

'Ms. Cothren, where’re our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, ’Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, ’No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are  ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven  (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked  into that classroom, each one  carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and  stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started  to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned...

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the  right to sit at these  desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to  you to sit in them.  It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an  education. Don't ever forget  it.'

A MODERN DAY RERUN....

An adventure story primarily concerned with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness, it tells of a man who is wrongfully imprisoned, escapes from jail, acquires a fortune and sets about getting revenge on the men who destroyed his life. However, his plans also have devastating consequences for the innocent as well as the guilty.

The story plot to a book completed in 1844….. sound familiar?  Guesses?

The original work was published in serial form in the Journal des Débats in 1844. Luc Sante describes the effect in Europe at the time as follows:
The effect of the serials, which held vast audiences enthralled ... is unlike any experience of reading we are likely to have known ourselves, maybe something like that of a particularly gripping television series. Day after day, at breakfast or at work or on the street, people talked of little else.
The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas

Fast-forward 167 years – REVENGE, ABC.  Dayum….. I LOVE this show!

TWO PEARLS FROM THE BUCKEYE STATE

This is too funny on two counts:  First that a stupid DEFEATED politician would get back in the public eye with something this incredible…. And secondly, that a JUDGE would let this go forward.  I mean – even if the dude wins the suit, he’s not gonna get his seat back.  Seems Ohio has it’s share of froot loops.

On another ‘Ohio’ note, Gov. John Kasich is in a suit with the unions similar to the one Wisconsin’s Scott Walker was in last spring.  Yesterday, our #1 RINO Mitt visited a call center (where volunteers were Trying to drum up support for Kasich) and spent 45 minutes …
Romney, who would not speak to the media, and told Ohio Republican Party chairman Kevin DeWine as he left the building ... that he was not endorsing either Issue 2 – which would repeal the GOP backed bill that limit collective bargaining for public employees, or Issue 3, which would allow Ohioans to opt out of the mandatory health care coverage portion of the health care law passed by Democrats in Congress last year.

This asshole WON’T TAKE A STAND?  Just what we need in the White House‼‼  Piss off, Romney!

FROM THE CLASSIFIED ADS: WANTED.... HEADLINES

There was an article from Reuters on Sunday titled:  NEW RISK FOR OCCUPY WALL STREET – LESS MEDIA INTEREST

I find this hysterical.  I mean duh – it is only the MSM who has breathed life into this pseudo movement for the last month.  There are only so many ways to show the filth and the ignorance of this lot.  Hello!  The public lost interest WEEKS ago.  The only reason this story has had any legs at all is because Obama keeps trying to infuse adrenalin with his class warfare mentality.

It’s about time the press started covering things that matter – like Solyndra and the other green energy (now THERE is an oxymoron if I ever saw one) money scandals.  And don’t forget Fast & Furious/Gunrunner.  Please recall if you will the reaming the Bush administration took when it was learned that Saddam didn’t have WMD.  Months of headlines and investigations.  Gunrunner goes all the way to the top (see my previous posts with video and DOJ documentation) and the press is brushing this under the rug.  The latest ‘green’ fraud is money the Department of Energy gave to a guy (who had previously been found guilty of fraud and had a prior bankruptcy on his record) money for his ‘green’ project AFTER HE HAD  AGAIN DECLARED BANKRUPTCY‼!  I mean – WTF!  Has anyone in this administration ever heard of DUE DILIGENCE???

The Obama administration is running a money laundering operation via supposed green jobs that would make Jimmy Hoffa proud and there’s only one journalist who seems to care (NBC’s Lisa Myers) – and SHE has gone oddly silent in the last week.

OWS is a ruse, funded by the left, to cover all the Obama scandals bubbling just below the surface.  You know the White House is piddling in their pannies after reading the Reuters headline.  The ‘risk’ is not to the protestors – the risk is to the White House.  I predict Obama will do something to stir the pot again…. Maybe Michelle will pay a visit to slum park to hump her new book…..

AMERIKA! WAT A KUNTRY!

Solyndra is just the tip of the iceberg.  A company in TN that was building a 'green' truck stop that was decked out with electrical hookups so truckers wouldn’t have to run their diesel engines overnight has gone bankrupt.

Here’s the kicker–  they received $424,000 in stimulus from the EPA and the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation after filing for bankruptcy.  The company, Mountain Plaza, was run by an individual, Rick Lewis, who had a prior bankruptcy and criminal theft charges.  According to the news report by the Tennessean newspaper the EPA did not require financial or criminal background checks.  The “green” equipment, bought with US taxpayer dollars is now the property of US Bank.

Lewis filed for bankruptcy in 2003, a year after a conviction on 31 counts of theft. And Lewis currently faces indictments for allegedly writing worthless checks, according to court records.

Let’s see if we can get this straight– the EPA takes your tax dollars and gives them to an ALREADY BANKRUPT company, now that equipment is the property of a mega bank.  And the taxpayer loses $424,000.!!  Isn’t life great?

KARL ROVE – STFU!

With Republicans like Karl Rove attacking OTHER REPUBLICANS, the left can sit back and enjoy. Rove has his head up Romney's ass - ONE RINO SUCKING UP TO ANOTHER RINO.... it's time for the Republican old school to ride off into the sunset! Rove cost the Republicans the Senate in 2012 by viciously going after Christine O'Donnell and Sharon Angle...... it's time for him to SHUT THE F*** UP! I'M SICK TO DEATH OF THE REPUBLICANS EATING THEIR OWN!

ON HERMAN CAIN

MAYBE CHRISTINE O’DONNELL…

ON RICK PERRY…

OR SARAH PALIN…

PERHAPS RON PAUL…

OBAMA: TAKE ANOTHER BOW!

I guess everyone has seen today’s headlines about the U.S. pulling our ambassador from Syria, and Libya set to implement ‘tougher than thought Sharia Laws’ now that Gaddafi is dead.  Add to that our withdrawal from Iraq…. I’m thinking by Valentine’s Day we won’t have any problem sorting out our friends from our enemies in the Middle East.  Assuming we can still count Israel among our friends, the score will be FRIENDS – 1, ENEMIES – ALL THE REST.  The Muslim sympathizer in the White House should take a serious BOW and hang the banner:  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

AMERICA’S MIDDLE EAST FOREIGN POLICY IS WRONG

Our first hint should have been when Hamas defeated the PLO/Arafat in the first Palestinian election.
January 20, 1996:  WEST BANK (CNN) -- Polls opened in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem early Saturday, giving Palestinians their first chance to do something they have never done before: vote. Election officials say the early turnout to choose a president and legislative council is heavy.  Final results show that Hamas won the election, with 74 seats to the ruling-Fatah's 45, providing Hamas with the majority of the 132 available seats and the ability to form a majority government on their own.
We thought the people would choose freedom and democracy over religion BECAUSE if you have the first two, you are guaranteed freedom of religion.  Not so.  And now, in country after country, it is religion and not democracy that is winning.  Iraq is our last, best hope for democracy in the Middle East and I don’t believe it will ever come to pass.  Or if it does, it won’t last.

It’s time to rethink our position, revise our foreign aid/assistance, and reassess our allies in that part of the world – a real challenge with a man who is a Muslim sympathizer in the White House.

THE NEVADA DEBATE.... MY NOTES AND THOUGHTS

Protesters outside debate site in Las Vegas…. Sounds like 25-30 max chanting ‘they got bailed out – we got sold out’  - in the Las Vegas dry heat – I bet their mouths are parched!

‘With nothing less than America’s future at stake’….. you said that right, CNN
Introductions…..

Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry, Romney, Cain, Paul, Santorum (no Huntsman – a good thing)

Cain got the loudest applause…………… standing for national anthem – nice touch– this is a first for the debates
And away we gooooooooooooo
********
Format:  one minutes to reply, 30 seconds to rebut… each candidate gets a minute intro
Newt wins the intros……. He knows who the enemy is…

First question from an audience member…. WHAT'S YOUR POSITION ON REPLACING THE INCOME TAX WITH A SALES TAX?

Bachmann:  can’t give Congress a new revenue stream  and beware of VAT.
Cain:  Read the 9/9/9 analysis – it IS a jobs plan and it does not raise taxes on the poor
Santorum:  Cain’s plan will have 84% of Americans paying more – no breaks for families – bad tax
Cain:  not true… not a VAT
Perry:  some states have no tax – Cain adds one – 9% on everything
Paul calls plan dangerous and regressive – will tax people who aren’t paying taxes now
Romney has 59 point plan….. Romney is an asshole… demagogueing Cain’s plan – Romney wants to reduce taxes on everyone – TOO MUCH TIME, MODERATOR!
Newt…. Said it would be a hard sell – like it just was on the panel – complimenting Cain’s plan – Cain has us talking about something serious, which is a good thing – Newt favors narrow cuts, like 0% capital gains
Bachmann – every American should pay SOMETHING – BIG CHEERS FROM AUDIENCE – flatten tax code and remove regulations – excellent answer
Perry:  called Romney a failure…. Focus on 9% unemployment and get people working – started again on energy production…  energy independence is the way out
Romney:  Perry’s right about energy but other areas need to get moving – manufacturing, etc.  Repeal Obamacare
Santorum:  Income mobility – letting those at the bottom of the scale rise – have to get back manufacturing base – repeal regulations to spur manufacturing, bring jobs back from overseas – nailed Romney on Obamacare using his plan
Romney /Santorum:  arguing – Romney nailed on his Romneycare
Santorum:  state of Mass is now trying to lower costs – expanded access without controlling costs
Romney:  people of Mass like the plan by 3/1
Newt:  Focus – Boston Herald reported state of Mass is fining a small business 700,000 because his health care isn’t sufficient – NAILED ROMNEY – CHEERS
Whoa – Newt calls Romney a liar!  Romney accuses Newt of supporting individual mandate - Newt supported individual mandate with Heritage Foundation against Hillarycare – not the same as Romneycare or Obamacare
Bachmann:  Obamacare so unpopular that even the Obama admin is throwing out parts of it…

BREAK------------------------------------

[lively so far – everyone after Cain and Romney – Newt is getting all the applause; Paul not getting much face time; Santorum strong on jobs]

WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO OBAMACARE AND SHOULD WE KEEP ANY PART?

Paul – keep nothing – too many programs already – allow people to opt out of GOVERNMENT medicine – CHEERS‼‼  Need more competition and let people have control…. EXCELLENT ANSWER
Cain – keep none of it – repeal it because it’s a disaster – H.R. - 3400 – market driven reforms
Perry:  Texas has high rate of uninsured kids…. Perry said Texas has more doctors  - accused Romney of hiring illegals
Romney – nailing Perry on immigration – 60% increase in illegal population
Perry – calls Romney liar – had illegals working for him – Mass paper reported it – accuses Romney of being in favor of amnesty – Romney admits to having illegals after denying it – Perry said it took him a year to fire ‘em – Perry didn’t come out too great on this round

AS PRESIDENT WOULD YOU PUT UP A FENCE ON THE SOUTHERN BORDER?

Cain re: your comments on electrified fence…. Yes – secure border with fence, technology and boots – no apology for wanting to protect America – promote existing path by cleaning up bureaucracy – and empower states to do what federal government is not doing
Perry – is fence possible?  10-15 years to build it – better to build a virtual fence – to really stop activity is boots on the ground –
Bachmann – says Obama has illegal problem – aunt and uncle that are illegal – she will build a fence on the entire border – costs us $113 BILLION a year for illegals – English as official language – immigrants will not receive subsidies
Perry says federal government has failed to protect the border.
Romney:  turn off the magnets – jogs, freebies  Audience boos Perry for attacking Mitt

From a Latino in the audience:  WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE TO LEGAL LATINOS AND HOW WOULD YOU WIN OUR VOTE?

Newt:  anyone who understands America should be proud of our willingness to accept people from all over the world.
Paul:  are laws anti-Latino?  Must remove incentives for illegals to come here – stop putting people in groups  - need to see people as individuals

SHOULD THE 14th AMENDMENT BE REPEALED?

Cain – didn’t answer – talked about jobs plan
Perry – talked about getting people back to work - does not support repeal
Bachmann – anchor babies issue of legislation  - need to deal with it
Santorum:  basis of strength is the family, not the individual – latino families know this and see erosion of family – family and faith are being crushed
Paul:  need to run border better – bring troops home to guard the border

DO YOU SUPPORT OPENING A NATIONAL NUCLEAR REPOSITORY AT YUCCA MOUNTAIN FOR NUCLEAR WASTE? (pertinent to Nevadians)

Newt – need to find a solution for waste rather than having them scattered all over the country – need to let geologists determine safest place
Paul – what right does 49 states have to tell one state we’re gonna put our garbage there?  Romney agrees and says Nevada should be the ones to decide…
Perry – agrees with Mitt…. And Paul – let states decide – follow the 10th Amendment

PROPERTY OWNERS DEVASTATED BY R.E. BUBBLE – WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Santorum:  Says all supported TARP…
Perry said no he didn’t –
Cain says no, Romney said no….
Perry asked Congress to cut regs and taxation NOT to pass TARP – Perry says government needs to get out of markets and let them work – get economy going…
Cain – I’ve said before – we were in a crisis – supported concept of TARP – did not like what Obama did – need to get government out of the way-
Bachmann:  talks to people about housing and foreclosures – people losing their homes and Obama has failed you – I will not fail you on and will change things

YOUR THOUGHTST ON OCCUPY WALL STREET
Cain – still says if you don’t have a job blame yourself – CHEERS FROM AUDIENCE – occupy is directing anger at wrong thing – should be in front of the White House protesting!  MORE CHEERS (best answer in debate)
Paul:  Does Romney understand…. Says Cain’s blaming victims for problems… FROOT LOOP ALERT!  How many have gone to jail?  Blame economic policies
Romney – said protests were dangerous.  President failed on the economy – made harder on every issue – Obama has no jobs plan even now and he’s campaigning

BREAK ------------------

[Romney is great at enumerating the problem but will NOT give solutions – only platitudes….. Perry is off the tracks and seems easily rattled -  seems to be one question behind – better check his facts because the crowd isn’t behind Perry… Santorum nailed the family issue and got cheers – Paul got laughs by saying the government doesn’t run anything well – Bachmann got off track talking about moms losing their homes – Cain had a great round and stuck to his guns on the fence and particularly on taking responsibility if you don’t have a job]

QUESTION ON RELIGION – DOES CANDIDATE’S FAITH MATTER?

Santorum:  morals and values matter –lengthy,  excellent answer
Newt:  of course it matters – how can you have a country founded on faith and it NOT matter – don’t judge others [APPLAUSE] – how can I trust you with power if you don’t pray? Don't care who you pray TO but gotta have faith
Perry – rambled and didn’t  talk about the pastor who said Mitt was in a cult – says he didn’t agree with what the pastor said
Romney – not gonna lose sleep over comments – but has a problem with the man saying we need to choose based on religion – that’s not tolerance - insisted on an apology after saying that wasn't the worst comment he'd ever had said about him

DO YOU SUPPORT DEFENSE SPENDING CUTS?

Bachmann – talked about assassination attempt and then Obama engaged troops in a 4th country – we are disrespected in the world because of Obama’s failed policies – need to stand up against Iran
Newt – supercommittee can’t achieve magic number we will have to shoot ourselves in the head and then be glad they only want to cut off a leg – says the committee is stupid – GREAT ANSWER – said he’s a hawk but a cheap hawk – setting an arbitrary budget number for defense is stupid
Paul – withdraw military – cut spending – can’t afford it – come home

WOULD YOU NEGOTIATE FOR A HOSTAGE?

Cain – do not negotiate with terrorists but look at individual situation –
Santorum – would not negotiate with terrorists – not cut a penny from military budget – government’s primary duty is to protect us – biggest threat is Iran

WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO SEND FOREIGN AID WHEN WE NEED IT HERE?

Perry – need a real debate on foreign aid – need to defund the United Nations – PLO creating conflict in U.N. – why are we funding it
Romney – explains what foreign aid is…. Listed ways to cut budget
Paul – would cut all foreign aid, including Israel
Bachmann – no – should NOT cut aid to Israel – criticized Obama for how he treats Israel – countries we have liberated should reimburse the United States – do NOT negotiate with terrorists
Cain – stop giving money to enemies
Newt – Reagan said negotiating for release of Iranian hostages was a terrible mistake

BREAK------------------

[Perry is the weakest man standing – he’s uninformed and erratic.  Bachmann is very well informed and making strong points – Cain is comfortable and spontaneous but his answers on foreign things lack clarity – Newt knows his world stuff – Romney would rather reiterate what the problem is than say how to fix it – and Santorum sounds more sensible as time passes.  Romney has gotten some loud cheers but some groans as well.  Paul lost the audience on foreign stuff, which he’s done in every debate because his positions are dumb.]

WHO CAN BEAT OBAMA?
Moderator said:  41% say Romney; 1% Santorum...Why go with Santorum?
Santorum:  said people aren’t paying attention and he’s the only one who’s won a swing state AS A CONSERVATIVE…. Excellent answer but I couldn’t type that fast!  Sorry!  Santorum flat out nailed the question.
Romney – thinks people are looking for someone to beat Obama – yada yada  - ANSWER THE QUESTION!  Pffffttttt
Perry – need to contrast with Obama
Romney – called Perry out on being on Al Gore’s campaign and said half the jobs were for illegals – Perry said was not true – Perry called Mitt a failed governor
Cain – tied in polls – who should be president!  Cain said he should be president – Romney is Wall Street – Cain is Main Street -   problem solver VS a president who hasn’t fixed anything
Romney touting his jobs experience.  Blahhhhh
Newt – says he has substance – will challenge Obama to Lincoln/Douglas format

AND THE WINNERS ARE:  GINGRICH AND CAIN - the two at the bottom of the money scale

(PERRY AND ROMNEY both stunk but they have the most money and money talks.......... )

And there you have it...

IF THIS DOESN’T TELL YOU IGNORANT ASS PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR THIS MAN WHERE YOU FALL IN THE PECKING ORDER, NOTHING WILL!

SEN. HARRY REID SIGNALS GOVERNMENT JOBS MUST TAKE PRIORITY OVER PRIVATE-SECTOR JOBS

"It's very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine; it's the public-sector jobs where we've lost huge numbers, and that's what this legislation is all about," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday indicated Congress needs to worry about government jobs more than private-sector jobs, and that this is why Senate Democrats are pushing a bill aimed at shoring up teachers and first-responders.

THE OBAMAS MUST BE TIGHTENING THEIR BELTS - OR JUST CHANGING THEM....

May, 2010:  Michelle Obama's gown for Wednesday night's state dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala, was made for Mrs. Obama by New York designer Peter Soronen.

October, 2011:  U.S. President Barack Obama (R) and his wife Michelle (2nd L) pose with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak (2nd R) and his wife Kim Yoon-ok (L) as they arrive for a state dinner at the White House in Washington October 13, 2011.

Upon closer inspection, it seems these are NOT the same dress - they  are the same identical pattern but each version is of a different fabric - so instead of simply 'tightening her belt' Michelle is pissing away cash to have a high dollar designer make a nearly-identical copy - even the color is similar...... I want THAT job!

FROM 1918 - HUMAN STATUE OF LIBERTY

OH GOODY! I'M ALREADY ON MY SECOND SONY BRAVIA BECAUSE THE FIRST ONE WAS DEFECTIVE!

Sony Recalls 1.6 Million Bravia TV Sets Because of Fire Risk

A faulty component in the backlight systems may be the source of overheating that can melt the top of the TV set, Shima said. It’s the second recall involving Sony products in a month, with KDDI Corp., Japan’s second-largest mobile-phone operator, saying it would replace Sony-made batteries in as many as 2 million handsets because they may overheat and melt.

The recalled sets will be repaired if a faulty part was found. Sony will dispatch a service crew to inspect the set and may offer a rental TV while repairs are being made, Shima said. Sony won’t offer refunds or replacement TVs, the Sony spokesman  said.

MY TAKE ON THE NEW HAMPSHIRE DEBATE (YAWN)

I took 4 pages of notes as the debate wore on.  Charlie Rose is a total bore and horrible as a moderator.

Entire debate was about jobs and the economy, and two hours is just too much.  Candidates were repeating themselves and the crowd was asleep – only one or two mediocre rounds of applause.

Basically, there was nothing new.  Everyone was gunning for Romney and he was prepared with canned answers. One funny response was Cain’s 9/9/9 plan vs. Romney’s 59 point plan and who’s was the simplest!  NOT Romney’s!
All the candidates had their stock answers, and since I’ve watched all the debates to date, I’d heard it all before.

The closing question gave them all a chance to 'out poor' each other - Romney and Huntsman must have grown up wealthy because they didn't join in on that

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO CONNECT WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE to say you feel their pain?

Bachmann:  parents had divorced – grew up poor – has 23 foster kids – solutions close to home – care on a personal basis you don’t need big government

Cain – was po before he was poor – dad had 3 jobs – has a record of a leader working on the right problems – surround yourself with the right people!  Yaaaaa – good answer

Newt – army brat – moved – relatives out of work – sense of pain – hire you to solve the problem – all there are more likely to solve those problems than Obama

Paul – promotes liberty – free market system – humanitarian program – welfare and socialists states backfire

Santorum – steel town kid – manufacturing left – people skilled workers

Huntsman – presided over a state that had lowest unemployment in the country – yada yada

Perry – son of tenant farmers and Air Force member – has CEO experience from working with private sector - needed to pump his experience more

Romney – we're in a crisis – people wonder about kid’s future – America needs leadership – and will make military second to none - a line he's used before

IN CONCLUSION:
Paul – makes strong points and then drowns them in nutty soup – he’s only still in because he has the resources to bus in his people to vote in straw polls – his money will run out soon and he can go home

Perry – he’s toast – the good ole Texas boy isn’t gonna cut it and his answers all night were rambling – he does not think well on his feet

Romney – nothing new but said it better – and he got way more time than any of the others – poor management by the moderator who lost control a couple of times

Bachmann was a rerun of a broken record….. I think she’s done

Cain stood his ground, got a few laughs, and sounded very comfortable and confident – best line all night was he would surround himself with good people – that’s a MUST

Newt scored but didn’t get much face time – but made VERY strong points and knows the opponent is Obama – I think Newt will withdraw soon – and I hate that because for a change, Newt is focused on Obama as the target

Huntsman – same old stuff and too clever by half.

Santorum used his small amount of time wisely but don’t know if he made any inroads – probably not

Basically the debate was boring, the questioning was laborious and the answers even more so.

Give this one to Romney, but I think we are in a 2-man race now – Cain and Romney.

UPDATE ON OBAMA’S SOLAR PROBLEMS….

AND TODAY – HOT OFF THE PRESS:

SunPower: Twice As Bad As Solyndra, Twice As Bad For Obama

How did a failing California solar company, buffeted by short sellers and shareholder lawsuits, receive a $1.2 billion federal loan guarantee for a photovoltaic electricity ranch project—three weeks after it announced it was building new manufacturing plant in Mexicali, Mexico, to build the panels for the project.

The company, SunPower (SPWR-NASDAQ), now carries $820 million in debt, an amount $20 million greater than its market capitalization.  If SunPower was a bank, the feds would shut it down.  Instead, it received a lifeline twice the size of the money sent down the Solyndra drain.

Two men with insight into the process are SunPower rooter Rep. George R. Miller III, (D.-Calif.), the senior Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee and the co-chairman of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, and his SunPower lobbyist son, George Miller IV.

FAST & FURIOUS UPDATE (UPDATED!)

Minute 3:30.... Kirsten Powers says White House didn't know (according to the Washington Post – oh yeah – THAT is an unbiased source!)

Minute 8:25 – Deputy Attorney General David Ogden, on March 24, 2009 speaking on C-SPAN – opening comment: ‘THE PRESIDENT HAS DIRECTED US TO TAKE ACTION TO FIGHT THESE CARTELS’… and he goes on to tell what actions they are doing, INCLUDING (minute 9:07) …FORTIFYING OPERATION GUNRUNNER‼‼!

In a blistering letter, Rep. Darrell E. Issa, California Republican, who heads the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told Mr. Holder that it was time for him “to come clean to the American public” on what he knew and when about the weapons investigation, saying Mr. Holder has made numerous statements about the operation that have “proven to be untrue.”

“The time for deflecting blame and obstructing our investigation is over,” Mr. Issa wrote. “Operation Fast and Furious was the department’s most significant gun-trafficking case. It related to two of your major initiatives — destroying the Mexican [drug] cartels and reducing gun violence on both sides of the border.

“On your watch, it went spectacularly wrong. Whether you realize yet or not, you own Fast and Furious. It is your responsibility,” he wrote, adding that Mr. Holder had an obligation to say who is going to be held accountable “for failing to shut down a program that has already had deadly consequences, and will likely cause more casualties for years to come.”

The attorney general once again pleads ignorance as some 40 Fast and Furious weapons are found at a Mexican drug lord's home. If the AG doesn't read memos, maybe he can read a subpoena….On "Fox News Sunday" Issa said he plans to issue subpoenas that Holder and other top Department of Justice officials… At the Arizona Peace Officers' memorial in Phoenix Friday [10/7/11], Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu announced that 10 Arizona sheriffs had called for a special counsel to investigate Attorney General Eric Holder for "Operation Fast and Furious," which has left at least one U.S. lawman dead.

Nancy and Claire McCaskill have been hanging around together for too long....

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s husband, a real estate developer and investment banker, stands to make millions of dollars in a previously undisclosed residential real estate project in California as a partner with the father of a woman Mrs. Pelosi helped become ambassador to Hungary, records show.

Despite his [Mr. Pelosi] involvement in the project dating back to the late 1990s, Mrs. Pelosi first listed the investment in May 2010 on her federal financial-disclosure forms covering the couple’s finances during 2009. The forms are required annually and are supposed to identify assets she and her husband have that are worth more than $1,000.

THE LONELY MAN AT THE TOP?

MICHAEL GOODWIN, writing on Sunday for the N.Y. Post

Granted – the NY Post is NOT MSM…. But you gotta love reading this in print….

The reports are not good, disturbing even…President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett and to David Axelrod, his political strategist…

Everybody else, including members of his Cabinet, have little face time with him except for brief meetings that serve as photo ops. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner both have complained, according to people who have talked to them, that they are shut out of important decisions.

If the reports are accurate, and I believe they are, they paint a picture of an isolated man trapped in a collapsing presidency.

Obama conceded in one television interview recently that Americans are not “better off than they were four years ago” and said in another that the nation had “gotten a little soft.” Both smacked of a man who feels discouraged and alienated and sparked comparisons to Jimmy Carter, never a good sign.
Blaming the country is political heresy, of course, yet Obama is running out of scapegoats. His allies rarely make affirmative arguments on his behalf anymore, limiting themselves to making excuses for his failure. He and they attack Republicans, George W. Bush, European leaders and Chinese currency manipulation -- and that was just last week.

The blame game isn’t much of a defense for Solyndra and “Fast and Furious,” the emerging twin scandals that paint a picture of incompetence at best.

Obama himself is spending his public time pushing a $450 billion “jobs” bill -- really another stimulus in disguise -- that even Senate Democrats won’t support.  He grimly flogged it repeatedly at his Thursday press conference, even though snowballs in hell have a better chance of survival.

Harvey Golub, former chairman of American Express, called the “jobs” bill an incoherent mess.  Writing in The Wall Street Journal, he said that among other flaws, the bill includes an unheard of retroactive tax hike on the holders of municipal bonds…“Many of us have suspected that economic illiterates were setting the economic policy of this administration,” Golub wrote, adding that the bill “reveals a depth of cluelessness that boggles the mind.”

What a coincidence that there were three articles this weekend on Obama’s ‘personal isolationism.’  Maybe the MSM is actually getting this right.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN ACTION

In 2006, Michigan passed an initiative called PROPOSAL 2, which banned the use of affirmative action in admissions for public universities in Michigan.

In early March, 2010, university administrators (including university deans and vice provosts) held an open panel discussion with the students, which was dubbed “The Rise and Fall of Affirmative Action.”
Ted Spencer, associate vice provost and executive director of undergraduate admissions, told those at the event that Proposal 2 caused a lot of controversy because it led people to believe that when the University was using affirmative action in admissions decisions it was accepting unqualified students.
“One of the misconceptions of Proposal 2 was that we were admitting unqualified people,” he said. “That simply wasn’t true.”
Many minority students at the event agreed that after the passage of Proposal 2, they have felt like they have had to prove their academic potential to their peers and professors. [1]
I find this assertion TOTALLY UPSIDE DOWN!

Affirmative action IS AN INSULT TO MINORITIES! The government presumes that minorities CANNOT COMPETE ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD AND NEED ‘SPECIAL CONSIDERATION’ to be admitted to a college or university. Same applies to hiring – the government assumes everyone cannot compete equally and therefore some ‘groups’ need a leg up.

I would submit that AFTER passage of Proposal 2, any student – regardless of race, etc. – any student could look around and KNOW that every other student had been held to identical standards and the fact that they WERE ADMITTED meant that they DID NOT have to prove their academic potential to their peers and professors!  They earned their spot based upon merit.

What am I missing here?? ‘Affirmative Action’ is as much of a pejorative as calling someone a ___________ (insert filthy name of choice).

Fast-forward and consider the following findings by ‘The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education’ as specifically concerns the University of Michigan.
The statistics we have obtained concentrate on the nation's most selective universities. These institutions tend to be role models for the nation's 3,000 four-year colleges and universities. Racial policies of these top-tier universities are likely to shape the policies of other institutions of higher education.
How the Rankings Were Constructed   (note: this study was for BLACK students only – no other minorities were included)
Our evaluation system rates the nation's 26 highest academically ranked universities in 13 categories or factors of racial diversity. The 13 categories are:
• Total black student enrollments (graduate and undergraduate).
• The five-year progress of the university in black student enrollments.
• The percentage of blacks in the most recent first-year class.
• The five-year progress in black enrollments in the first-year class.

See link [2] below for additional criteria for this study. The relevance of the study is that the University of Michigan RANKS IN THE TOP 25 universities in the nation WITHOUT USING AA as a criteria for admission.

Ooooooo... lookie here!
19.  University of Michigan (Average Score: 71.85): Despite litigation challenging its affirmative action admissions programs, the University of Michigan has been able to achieve and maintain a high level of black enrollments. It also ranks third among the highest-rated universities in terms of its percentage of overall black faculty. However, the university has a poor record in promoting its black faculty to tenured positions. Only 1.6 percent of the tenured faculty at the university are black and this level has dropped substantially over the past five years.
But the main factor lowering the university's overall ranking is its extremely poor record in graduating black students. The black graduation rate at the University of Michigan is only 60 percent. This is 27 percentage points lower than the rate for white students. In addition, the black graduation rate has dropped five percentage points over the past seven years. [2]
[Editor’s note: I would challenge the terminology here of ‘the university's overall ranking is its extremely poor record in graduating black students’. The faculty teaches and the students LEARN. It is up to the STUDENT to meet the graduation requirements – not for the University to ‘graduate’ them, regardless of race!  I put that right up there with a student saying the teacher 'flunked him' on his test.  Pffftttttt...]

FYI - the top 26 leading universities, as scored by the JBHE are listed below.

1 – Duke University (NC)
2 – Emory University (GA)
3 – Princeton University (NJ)
4 – Washington University (MO)
5 – Vanderbilt University (TN)
6 – University of North Carolina
7 - Georgetown University (DC)
8 – Harvard University (MA)
9 – University of Virginia
10 – Brown University (RI)
11 – Columbia University (NT)
12 – Stanford University (CA)
13 – Yale University (CT)
14 – Rice University (TX)
15 – Cornell University (NY)
16 – MIT (MA)
17 – University of Pennsylvania
18 – Dartmouth College (NH)
19 – University of Michigan
20 – University of California Berkley
21 – Northwestern (IL)
22 – Notre Dame (IN)
23 – Carnegie Mellon University (PA)
24 - Johns Hopkins (MD)
25 – Cal Tech (CA)
26 – University of Chicago (IL)

The overall diversity score ranged from 90.36 (Duke) to 67.27 (U of Chicago). University of Michigan tied with UC Berkley at 71.85.

The top 7 schools in percentage of black students were:

1 – Emory 10.4%
2 – UNC-CH 9.7%
3 – Georgetown 9.2%
4 – UVA 8.8%
5 – University of Michigan 8.1%
6 – Johns Hopkins 7.6%
7 – Duke 7.5%

And finally, here’s an interesting quote from a Duke law student’s blog intimating that Duke does NOT use AA as a consideration for admission - not a surprise since it's a private university.  My premise is, black students at Duke have nothing to prove – they had the creds and they were admitted BECAUSE THEY WERE QUALIFIED and every other student there KNOWS IT!

[Posted in 2004]….Duke must use under-represented racial and ethnic minority identifications as a factor, and I would also add religion to this area. Some will argue that unqualified students are taking the places of more qualified applicants, yet, bottom line, the person who did not get in just could not cut it. Duke can and should be selective. We are unique, and that is the importance of being Duke. [3] [A liberal LAW student, no doubt.]

FIVE THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT RAHM EMANUAL

He's the real-life Ari's brother. His youngest brother Ariel (Ari) Emanuel is a founder of the Endeavor talent agency in Hollywood and was an inspiration for Jeremy Piven's character, Ari Gold, on HBO’s Entourage. Not to be outdone, Rahm is said have been a model for Bradley Whitford's character, Josh Lyman, on The West Wing.

He could have been a ballet dancer. He studied ballet as a teen and was offered a scholarship to join the renowned Joffrey Ballet, but went to Sarah Lawrence College instead.

He's missing part of a finger. In his youth, Emanuel badly cut a finger on a meat slicer while working at an Arby's. The wound became infected, and he lost half of the middle finger on his right hand.

He volunteered with the Israeli army. During the first Gulf War, he did a stint as a civilian volunteer with the Israel Defense Forces, rust-proofing brakes on a base in northern Israel.

He once sent a rotten dead fish to a political enemy. In the Clinton administration, his take-no-prisoners style earned him the nickname "Rahm-bo."
