BLACKLISTED BY DISQUS

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/372298/krauthammers-take-obama-tells-world-we-arent-going-do-anything-about-invasion-ukraine

I joined 'disqus' several months ago.  It's a service many news media use to allow readers to post comments.  You create a profile and when you comment, your profile is referenced.  It's great because you don't have to 'join' every media link just to leave a comment.

A couple of weeks ago DISQUS changed their delivery on news articles.  Prior to this change, you could click an UP arrow or a DOWN arrow to register your opinion on something a commenter had said (much the same as the 'likes' on Facebook).  Up and down votes were tallied and you could see which comments were getting the thumbs down.

Well now, the UP votes are counted.... but 'in the interest of keeping things positive' DISQUS no longer counts the down votes.  I swear to God - this is the reason DISQUS gave for NOT showing the tally of negative replies.  Can you say CENSORSHIP!

A few minutes ago I read the article at the link above.  I knew what it said because I had watched Krauthammer totally nail Obama for his weak stance on the Russian invasion of the Ukraine on the panel on Special Report. From the link:
Charles Krauthammer responded on Special Report tonight saying, “The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obama’s statement. I find it rather staggering.”...“What he’s saying is we’re not really going to do anything and we’re telling the world,”
I made the following comment on this article:
This is Tiananmen Square all over again - people fighting for their freedom against an oppressive regime, and this country sits idly by with our thumb up our a$$ and watches them die.  Obama is a disgrace.
I have now been blacklisted from commenting on the National Review site, and MAYBE from any site that uses DISQUS as a commenting tool.

Yup..... this is the beginning of serious censorship, when we can no longer criticize Barack Hussein Obama.

p.s.    Chuck.....I sure hope your income taxes are correct and ready to be 'reviewed' by the IRS

WHY THE PUSH TO RAISE THE MINIMUM RAISE?

Follow the money.

UNION PAY SCALES ARE SET BASED ON THE MINIMUM WAGE!  Unions pay $X above whatever the minimum wage is.

This is another Obama sop*** to the unions.  He couldn't care less about a 'living wage' for working people, or he wouldn't be intent on wiping out the best health care AND HEALTH CARE DELIVERY SYSTEM in the history of the world!

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sop

sop:  a conciliatory or propitiatory bribe, gift, or gesture

Example they used:  (change a few words and you get the meaning!)
<as a sop to the teachers' union for supporting his reelection campaign, the mayor promised to push for a raise in the minimum wage>

And that is your vocabulary word for the day!

MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL NATIONWIDE! THINK OF THE REVENUE IT WOULD GENERATE...

I'm not a pot smoker.  I don't know that I've ever even SMELLED pot unless it was at an outdoor concert.  But of late, it seems marijuana is no longer a dangerous, entry-level drug.  Also seems suddenly pot is OK, while tobacco is still right up there with phosphates and PCB's where public health is concerned.

OK - I have no problem with making pot legal nationwide.  Control the growers and tax the hell out of it - like cigarettes are taxed. Works for me, as I'm not a smoker of any sort.

My only concern is people who will assuredly DRIVE under the influence of pot. My solution for that is.... if you're caught driving with WEED IN THE CAR... whether it's in your body or in the glove box, the car is confiscated ON THE SPOT and auctioned at a Sheriff's sale within 30 days.  If you're  driving a friend's car..... oops - sux to be your friend, since the friend's car will go on the auction block.

I thought for years that should be the policy for DWI or for possessing OPEN alcohol in an automobile.

It would certainly cut down on recidivism..... right?  Would also reduce carbon emissions (Algore) by reducing the number of vehicles on the road.

Just my rambling thoughts....will propose this when I run for Congress.

IT'S ALL NEWT'S FAULT!

Back in 1992, Newt Gingrich crafted a clever campaign for the House of Representatives - the Contract with America.  This was a 10-point pledge of what the Republicans would do within the first 100 days if they gained control of the House.  For the first time, Congressional elections became NATIONAL, rather than local.  The Republicans swept the House for the first time in 40 years (in no small part because of the total failure of HILLARYCARE).  The Republicans also won eight Senate seats, giving them the majority there. (Two Democrat Senators switched parties after that election.)

With the leadership change in both the House and the Senate, many long-time Democrats were not interested in being in the minority party, and many hung it up... and many that left were the more moderate Democrats.  It was the left-wing-nuts like Pelosi and Waxman, Dingle, Durbin, and Reid who stayed in office.

Then in 2006 when the Democrats took back the House, and in 2008 when the Dems regained the majority in the Senate, it was these same nutcases who had the seniority and became Speaker, majority leaders and chairs of committees. THAT is how we got such an idiotic law as the ACA... because of these socialist wingnuts in charge.

Yep - all Newt's fault!

PRODUCT REVIEW: GWALTNEY BACON [UPDATE]

This post is also on my cooking blog but I think it is appropriate here as well....

http://firebird-cooks.blogspot.com/2014/02/product-review-gwaltney-bacon.html

As a military brat and a military wife, our family has always done major shopping at commissaries, whenever possible.  I'm living two hours from the nearest commissary now, so my choices are the local Food Lion store (10 miles away) or a Walmart store (45 miles away).  I buy in bulk for obvious reasons.  I've mostly always purchased Gwaltney bacon when it was available, and I've had NO problems with what I got at the two commercial stores.  Brand loyalty.

Before the holidays I made a trip to Seymour Johnson AFB for a 'big' shopping, and I decided to buy a case of bacon ($2.50 vs $4.95) because the savings on that alone would pay for my gas to drive a 4-hour round trip.

Mistake.  HUGE mistake.  I bought the 16 oz. hardwood smoked, premium sliced bacon that comes in a box like the picture below.

I'm down to my last 5-6 pounds of bacon, and every time I open a new box, I get angrier and angrier.  I have YET to find a single pound of 'premium' bacon with the slices of uniform thickness or with pieces that are WHOLE so that you can pull them apart.  Most of the slices are made up of 4-5 segments - impossible to cook... and this morning was the straw that broke this camel's back.  I opened a new package, used the ENTIRE PACK to get SIX uniform slices for breakfast.  The rest I threw in the garbage, and the balance of the case will go to the local soup kitchen tomorrow.

Now..... having said this.... I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM EXCEPT WITH THE CASE I GOT AT THE COMMISSARY - and it wasn't one or two packages!  IT WAS EVERY SINGLE POUND I'VE OPENED.

I have come to the conclusion, based on my own empirical evidence that the problem is not quality control but that the Gwaltney company is dumping their bacon rejects to fill their contractual obligations with the military.  No other explanation I can think of, since Food Lion and Walmart seem to get 'premium' bacon.

I have also written of this to my Congressional Rep. Walter B. Jones, since he is on the Committee on Armed Services:  Subcommittee on Military Personnel,  Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces, and Subcommittee on Oversights and Investigations.

Frankly I'm tired of the United States military and their families being screwed from every direction!  This is my little attempt to fight back!

I will also never purchase another thing with the word 'Gwaltney' on it.

5/8/14 - UPDATE:  Below is a picture of a pack of Gwaltney bacon that missed going to the soup kitchen because it was in the bottom of the freezer - so I decided to check it out just in case it WAS a good pound of bacon.... I wasn't disappointed nor was my rant here proved wrong.

This is the factory sealed bacon - UNOPENED.  Note the four partial pieces of bacon at the bottom edge of the package. This was NOT visible through the little window where you see a representative slice of bacon.  Of course it wasn't!

Below is the inspection stamp on the plastic wrapper.  In my opinion, Inspector 5689 should be fired.

I went to the commissary this week.... bought a CASE of Oscar Mayer thick sliced bacon.... will be interesting to see if THIS brand also looks like factory seconds.

MORAL MONDAY…TFF!

MORAL MONDAY - A grassroots movement against politics of the North Carolina Republican Party and Governor Pat McCrory in regard to voting rights, cutting social programs, changes in tax legislation, the repeal of the Racial Justice Act, and restrictions to abortion rights. (From Wikipedia – they said it as well as I could have - I would only add 'yada  yada  yada')

In the 2012 general election, the voters of North Carolina chose a Republican governor, Pat McCrory, (the last Republican governor was Jim Martin, elected in 1985) and the Republicans expanded their majority in both state houses (which they took for the first time in over 110 years in the 2010 election.)  This gave Republicans control of both the legislative and executive branch for the first time since 1870.  As an aside, the political power in North Carolina is in the legislature, NOT in the Governor’s mansion.

So…. Up pops civil disobedience protests against actions by the REPUBLICAN legislature.  (Interesting that in all the time the Dems ran the state, nothing was worthy of protest.)  The modus operandi of the protests is to gather outside the Legislature Building, have a protest on the topic of the week, and then some of the protesters enter the building where they are peacefully arrested and escorted out - thus garnering headlines form the left-wing media.  According to Raleigh police, more than 900 people have been arrested during over a dozen protests during the 2013 legislative session.

We now arrive at the topic de jour...

The opening sentence in an article about North Carolina’s new Voter ID law in the August 12, 2013 Washington Post reads:

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) on Monday signed into law one of the nation's most wide-ranging Voter ID laws.

The article continues:

The measure requires voters to present government-issued photo identification at the polls and shortens the early voting period from 17 to 10 days. It will also end pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-old voters who will be 18 on Election Day and eliminates same-day voter registration.

And the closing paragraph says:

McCrory also recently signed an extensive new abortion restrictions law -- another move that has earned him significant opposition from the political left. [Read the abortion article here:

Back to Moral Monday……. (Moral Monday was the brainchild of Rev. William Barber II - President of the NAACP of North Carolina).  There have been protests against North Carolina’s Marriage Amendment, plans to reduce education funding (FINALLY!) and changes to NC abortion laws. In addition to making headlines with his protests, Barber also drew criticism in January for labeling REPUBLICAN South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the first African American to serve the state as a senator since 1881, a “ventriloquist’s dummy.”

Fast-forward to last Saturday, 2/8/14, a weekend march against legislation requiring voter ID. Organizers predicted 20-30,000 people would take part in the ‘march’.  In fact, this was called a Moral March on Raleigh, since it wasn’t held on a Monday.

This is a picture that ran in the Raleigh N&O of the 'crowd.'  Raleigh police declined to estimate the crowd size..... but would you JUST LOOK at all those people!

That was all background for the point of this post.

Event organizers pass out an instruction packet to all the protesters, most of whom are members of other left-wing organizations, and many of whom are bussed in to Raleigh each week.

Here is a portion of Do’s and Don’ts if you want to take part in these protests….

NOW THAT’S FUNNY RIGHT THERE!  It should also embarrass anyone who can READ!

SANDRA FLUKE TO RUN FOR WAXMAN'S CONGRESSIONAL SEAT

Yesterday Sandra Fluke - of Georgetown round-heels fame for demanding that a Jesuit university provide her with free birth control - announced that she would be running for Henry Waxman's Congressional seat in California.  Waxman only recently announced his retirement.

Oh shit - nevermind.  She just withdrew from the race - apparently she was only able to raise $14.50.... not even enough to buy decent condoms, let alone birth control pills.
