The balloons have all fallen, and confetti covers the floor at the Convention Center in Tampa.  Places like that are like old actresses – they look better from afar in a no-so-searing light.  The Republicans finished their hurricane shortened convention with much fanfare.  I feel good about our ticket.  I think we have a chance to win.

I listened to every speech.  It was an uplifting event (tho I really wanted some red meat thrown to the lions) and there was a huge attempt to point out the diversity within the party.  And there IS diversity.  There are currently only two Democrat women serving as governors – Christine Gregoire of Washington (who will apparently not seek a third term) and Bev Perdue in North Carolina.  Ole Bev isn’t running for re-election, and I suspect it’s at the ‘suggestion’ of Obama.  The Republican candidate, Pat McCory (former Charlotte mayor) is up by 12 points against the Democrat Lt. Governor.  There are four Republican women governors - Jan Brewer (AZ), Susana Martinez (NM - an Hispanic lady BTW), Mary Fallin (OK) and Nikki Haley (SC - Indian heritage).

There was a vast variety of speakers over the three nights and not one asked for free birth control.  Rather, they almost all had a story to tell of what America WAS and can be again.  Except for Clint Eastwood – who had the crowd rolling in the aisles.  The left is all over him today about his bad speech, but frankly, he MADE MY DAY! (What?  HE can’t do that to himself‼‼  Shut up.)

Marco Rubio…. Ahhhhhh yes.  His speech (and his introduction of Romney) was stellar, but I’m biased.  He would sound great reading my grocery list.  He and Paul Ryan are just two of the rising start for the Republicans, and they will run circles around the likes of Sandra Fluke.  Last I heard, the Democrat Convention theme will be:  IT’S ABOUT ABORTION, STUPID!  We know it certainly will not be about the Obama administration’s record – otherwise, their party in Charlotte wouldn’t last an hour, let alone three days.

Romney’s speech – his introduction to the people of this country – covered all the bases about who he is and what he wants to achieve.  He’s no Ronald Reagan at the podium but he’s a good and decent man.  In my opinion, his best line, which sums him up had to do with Obama promising to lower the oceans and save the planet.  Romney simply wants ‘to help you and your family achieve your dreams.’  Well said, Mitt.

Game on.

Here’s a pearl you may have missed, or may not hear reported next week at the Democrat National Convention….. [Ed. Note:  I’m having a really hard time typing this with my mouth wide open in shock]

According to the Charlotte DNC homepage, the DNC will host a Jumah [the traditional Muslim Friday prayer] on Friday, August 31, and will welcome some 20,000 Muslims to Charlotte.  The Democrats have dubbed this an “official event”.

The fact that the DNC would endorse an Islamic supremacist to be the “Grand Imam” (Siraj Wahhaj) at a jumah in Charlotte is another example of how blind and politically correct we have become as a nation.

The Democratic National Convention is endorsing a political platform for the organizers of a program called the “Jumah at the DNC.” It begins with a jummah prayer on Friday, August 31 and ends on September 2...

On the surface it appears that the event, organized by the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs (BIMA), is cultural fun for the whole family whose only political focus is Muslims’ right to assembly, but it is much more than that.

The DNC lists the assembly as an “official function” and claims that the leaders of the program are typical of the DNC community. The group is hardly “mainstream,” being represented by Siraj Wahhaj, who will be the “Grand Imam” for the gathering.

Is there any doubt about [Obama’s] Christian faith? He’s already openly declared that America is no longer a Christian nation; he continues to openly praise Islam; he bows to Muslim leaders; he claims that the Muslim call to prayer is “the most beautiful sound in the world;” he regularly quotes from the Koran and cites it for directing his life; and, he publicly called Christians derogatory names such as “bitter clingers” for holding fast to their Bibles. Moreover, unlike people who change their names upon their conversion to Islam, Obama did not change his name upon his conversion to Christianity.

Just sayin'

Why in the world, with all that is happening in our nation today, and in the world today, would the President of the United States say that a top priority in a second term (Lord spare me) would be “climate change”.  [1] How about, and I am just winging it here, how about terrorism, the debt, the deficit, military preparedness, JOBS, the economy in general, illegal immigration (if there even IS such a thing anymore), voter fraud (not sure the left wants to touch THAT one), infrastructure, fuel prices, developing our own, realistic fuel resources……..I mean seriously, pick a REAL topic that actually exists and affects us….but climate change?  Seriously?

Why does the left keep re-visiting abortion, as if it is a lynchpin of our society?  Grow up you socialists……everyone on the right realizes that abortion is here to stay……why do you continue to re-visit it, over and over and fuckingover again?  And why do you continue to cast the right as a movement that is out to overturn Roe v. Wade?  Nobody thinks that is going to happen.  And why do you continue to cast every effort, every objection, every contrary opinion as an assault on your views?  Why can I not have a different opinion than you without offending you?  I saw an article that one of you posted about the horror of being a woman with an unwanted pregnancy prior to Roe v. Wade, and how horrific it was to get an abortion.  Really?  How often are we going to re-visit this shit?  We have heard enough of the anecdotal coat hanger in dirty ally’s stories.  Why keep doing it?  Why keep the myth alive that the right wants to interfere with your activities in the bedroom?  Hell, most of us wish you would padlock yourself in your bedroom and do whatever the hell you want, just keep us out of it.

And I think I know the answer…..and we can use the record of the current administration as an example.  There is no question (at least in the mind of a thinking American), that Obama cannot run on a record of success.  So what is next?  Romney is a felon (false), Romney has not paid taxes (false), the economy is improving (false), unemployment is improving (false)…..and a host of other lies from the administration.  So, let’s trot out a 40 year old argument for abortion like we are still arguing for, or against, abortion. Or, women’s right to vote……did I miss something in my Constitutional Law classes…..don’t women have the right to vote?  Help me if I am wrong.  And how EXACTLY do photo ID requirements to vote discriminate against anyone?  I give up and the government cannot tell us or they would do it (I would hope).  Oh, and while I am thinking of it……guess where my polling place is….in my precinct in North Carolina …….THE METHODIST CHURCH.  Where is the Freedom from Religion Foundation on this issue?  Or, in all of the other religious locations, and there are plenty, that are polling places?

You know, the President said this past week that the one thing you learn as the President is that you can’t just make stuff up.  Well, I for one am shocked that it took him becoming President to learn that lesson; most of us learn that far earlier in our development.  But what amazes me more is that he would say that, even as he and his surrogates are doing exactly that.  They make shit up out of whole cloth constantly.  As a matter of fact, I cannot think of a single thing that the President or his surrogates have said in the last three years that was the truth.  Did you hear the interview [2] with Debbie Wasserman-batshitcrazy-Schultz?  She was speaking with Anderson Cooper, who is a screaming liberal in his own right but a fairly adequate journalist by CNN standards, and she was using an LA Times article to support her argument that the GOP platform plank on abortion was written at the direction of Romney.  I searched for and read the article, and the article says no such thing.  Copper called her out on her lie, and in the end her response was basically that the truth didn’t matter, you could INFER that Romney directed the party insert the language into the party platform.  She just lied, or as the President said, made stuff up.  And when caught in the lie on national TV (I am not sure we can refer to CNN as national TV any longer……I think they have 15 viewers, making them about three viewers over MSNBC), she segued to the position that what the article said doesn’t matter, that she was telling the truth.  She was LYING.  And she is so bad a liar that we no longer even pause to consider it….I automatically assume that she is just lying.

Why do you on the left persistently do this?

The President said that Mitt Romney said that classroom size is not important to learning.  [3] Actually what he said is that Romney said “it don’t matter”.  Now - can you imagine Romney saying “it don’t matter”?  Romney isn’t from the thuggish streets of Chicago.  He can articulate in proper English without a teleprompter.  What Romney said was that, when he was governor of Massachusetts, he was told the same thing.  So, he gathered information and facts (a key element in all legitimate problem solving) and surveyed classroom size throughout the state.  And he discovered that classroom size MAY be AN issue, but was certainly not THE issue in school performance.  As a matter of fact, the one school district that spent the most money per student and had the smallest classroom size had the worst performance.  So Romney, rightly, concluded that classroom size was not THE problem.  He never said “it don’t matter”.  That statement by the President was a lie.  Why do you on the left insist on doing that?

And I know that these seem like little things.  But they are INTENTIONAL things.  The President INTENTIONALLY misquoted Romney, Wasserman-Batshit INTENTIONALLY misquoted the LA Times.  These are lies of commission, they are intentional lies.

So the left lives in a past that is just that, the past.  “This is what a woman’s life was before abortion was legal!!!”  Big fucking deal.  That was forty years ago - get over it.  And, oh by the way, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, as liberal as she is, was AGAINST legal abortion until she was convinced that it would not disproportionately affect the African American population (which was exactly what the proponent of legal abortion, Margaret Stanger, had intended).  Once she was convinced, Ruthie changed her position and guess what?  African American’s avail themselves to legal abortion in disproportionate numbers than the rest of the population.  Obama’s dream for this nation is a dream of the past, of rectifying past sins, long since rectified.  The left lives in the past…..because they have no plan for the future.

And this is key…..I asked up front why the left keeps re-visiting abortion….and you can substitute anything, any topic you like, and I think that the answer is this.  They have no plan for the real future, the real issues.  Climate change?  Seriously?  And the left is terrified of Romney / Ryan, because they want to talk about the actual issues.  They are terrified of Ryan because he tells the truth on the fiscal issues, and if he gets it wrong, he at least wants to talk about it.  They are terrified of Romney because he actually has experience in the real world, because there is a real chance that he can do something positive for the nation.  And this administration can’t handle that - they cannot deal with it, because they do not have a message that resonates with Americans.

H/T to my mentor, Batman.... you rock!

Joe Biden is wearing out his shoes trying to walk back his 'chains' comment from last week ... Yes, it WAS a racist comment, but not for the reasons everyone is saying.  All the hyperactivity has to do with the words Y'ALL and CHAINS..... but I contend that it's his use of the word 'BACK' that calls up the slavery days of yore.

He's going to put Y'ALL in chains....
He's going to put y'all BACK in chains....

Big difference....

BOOK REVIEW:  The Character of Nations: How Politics Makes and Breaks Prosperity, Family, and Civility   Author Angelo M. Codevilla

$7.58 in paperback on Amazon

Excerpts (from the hardback book) that will shock you (or they did ME).  When you read these, bear in mind this book was written in 1997 and updated in 2008 - many of the statistics are worse today.

p. 250:   … The abortion industry is as large as it is primarily because many state governments pay abortion providers to perform abortions and because the federal government pressures the insurance industry to fun abortions that are not paid for publically.  Planned Parenthood receives $300 million per year in federal funds to promote [abortions].

p. 254: … when Fannie Mae, the U.S. government’s semiprivate guarantor of half the nation’s mortgages, defaulted to set off the financial panic of 2008, the U.S. Treasury treated Congressman Barney Frank, chairman of the committee that oversees the corporation, who received money from it, whose homosexual lover was one of its executives, and who had shielded it’s practices from reform, as part of the solution, not part of the problem.

p. 265: … in 2008 some 13 million American children were on welfare, and 28 million (9.4% of all Americans) received food stamps.  [UP TO 15% IN 2011 !!!] Other welfare programs (housing assistance that pays the rent, energy assistance that pays the utility bills, and Medicaid that pays the doctor bills) have grown even faster.  In 12 states, the combined worth of JUST THESE FIVE PROGRAMS (there are 70 others to choose from) to a welfare mother of two amounts to over 90% of the mean wage in the area.  …. When the U.S. government made welfare an entitlement, it collapsed the distinction between bad fortune and bad character.  It validated the habits of the takers and effectively labeled honorable scruples as stupid.

p. 267: … Social Security’s welfare programs (especially SSI) may be the most harmful of all….the government has classified alcoholism, drug addiction and various kinds of personality disorders as federally subsidized disabilities. Children are also eligible to be classified as ‘disabled’ if they exhibit ‘mental impairment’. In 1990 the SCOTUS redefined this category to include children who do not act in an ‘age-appropriate’ manner.  Thus, whereas once parents had any incentives to make their children act their age or better, the regime now gives them $600 per month or more for every child who can demonstrate immaturity or below grade performance.

p. 269: … [and the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security] …. A baby boomer retiring in 2010 and surviving for 25 years [this was before Obamacare passed, with its death panels] will collect approximately 40% of his lifetime contributions…. That same retiree, had he invested his SS contribution (say $3000/year) for 40 years in the stock market’s historic 9%/year average growth rate…. would result in an accrued benefit of $1,888,000 at age 65, or $126,000 annual income for a 15 year life expectancy, vs. the $24,000 he will receive from Social Security.
"Putting ever more economic decisions in the hands of those with political power is just one of those mistakes with a track record of producing painful repercussions in many countries around the world. These repercussions have included not only serious economic losses but, even more important, a loss of personal freedom and self-respect, as ever-wider segments of the population become supplicants and sycophants of those with the power to dispense largess or to make one’s life miserable with legalistic or bureaucratic harassment."
We in America have taken large steps in that direction in recent years, and are accelerating our moves in that direction this year. Getting some clearer sense of what this risks is just one of many reasons to read The Character of Nations.

Check Thomas Sowell's review at the link below:

My local paper did a ‘Science and Technology’ two-page spread this past Monday that caught my eye.  This particular article was on the center page and it opened like a banner with huge letters as the headline:  POLAR BEARS AND CLIMATE CHANGE and it begins with a 9”x9” picture of a beautiful bear looking right into the camera.  Awwwwww.  So far, so good.

In the SECOND PARAGRAPH, the stated ‘facts’ are:

The world’s 20,000 to 25,000 remaining polar bears are classified as vulnerable, with dwindling Arctic sea ice reducing their chances of hunting and breeding. Increasing greenhouse gas emissions are largely responsible for the deterioration of the polar bear’s habitat, and the genetic diversity of the population also has suffered as numbers have dwindled.

Keeping in mind the title of the article, we now move down 8 paragraphs, further than most people would read, I assure you, and we find this:

The researchers’ estimates of the historical polar bear population show that the bears have been in decline for the past 500,000 years or so, with warming periods bringing about greater loss in numbers. [Emphasis is mine]

The current warming period, which started about 11,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age…

WELL D’OH!  Reread that...  The current warming period, which started about 11,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age…

Is that profound or what!  End of Ice Age = Beginning of warming [And conversely the end of a warming phase would mark the beginning of a cooling phase... ]

Do you think we, the taxpayers, paid for this study?

When Obama took over/bailed out General Motors, 2200 dealerships were forced to close.  If each one had 30 employees (sales, office, garage, parts, etc.) that is CONSERVATIVELY 66,000 JOBS LOST around the nation.  Could someone explain the logic in this?  Save your grey matter – I’ll tell you why.  It was so Obama [a/k/a/ the government] could pump $26,500,000 into the United Auto Workers union.

The U.S. Treasury Department said it expected to lose $25.05 billion on the bailout, up from a previous estimated loss of $21.7 billion.

The government spent about $80 billion to bail out GM, Chrysler and Ally Financial, the former finance arm GMAC. So far it's gotten back just over $37 billion. But the government still owns stakes in GM and Ally that it can sell.

The government still owns about 500 million shares of GM, which would have to more than double in price to $53 each for the government to get its remaining $27 billion back.

And this stupid MOFO in the White House wants to repeat this ‘success’ with manufacturing jobs in every industry!  IF THIS IS HIS IDEA OF SUCCESS, I SURE DON'T WANT TO SEE WHAT HE CALLS A FAILURE!

I will keep this simple… for the simple minded.

If you are 55 or older…. MEDICARE FOR YOU WILL NOT CHANGE

If you are 54 or younger…. You have the choice of staying in the existing
MEDICARE SYSTEM or purchasing private insurance.  If you choose to stay in the current system, you will see nothing change.  Go for it.

1 - If you opt for private insurance coverage, here’s how it will work.
The Medicare trustees will take BIDS from PRIVATE INSURERS on coverage that is the SAME as MEDICARE.  The SECOND LOWEST BID will become the base line for private coverage.  The government will give you a VOUCHER for that amount and you can shop for insurance that suits you.

2 - If you find insurance from a private insurer for LESS than the base line price, you pocket the difference.  If you find health insurance that meets your needs AT the base line cost…. It’s a wash.

3 - If you opt for a cadillac plan, YOU pay the difference out of pocket.

EASY AS 1-2-3

Got it?  Ryan does NOT propose ENDING MEDICARE AS WE KNOW IT.  His plan will SAVE Medicare from bankruptcy.

On the other hand, the ACA (a/k/a Obamacare) is cutting $750,000,000,000 [that’s $750 BILLION] from MEDICARE to fund Obamacare.  Anyone who believes the service and care quality of MEDICARE won’t go south, please raise your hand and you will be given a bottle of pills with directions on how to kill yourself.

North Carolina’s Erskine Bowles was Obama’s DEMOCRAT Co-Chair of the 18-member  ‘Debt Commission’ [Recall that Obama appointed this commission in 2010 and then totally ignored their recommendations – Obama thought he was smarter than those professionals he appointed].

Listen to what he says about Paul Ryan…..

I'm sick to DEATH of the left equating health CARE with health INSURANCE!!!

THERE IS NOT A PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY WHO DOES NOT HAVE HEALTH FRIGGING CARE!  Whether you have the means to pay for it or not is another story.  But no one - NO ONE - can be turned away from a hospital if they are in need of health CARE!!!

The stupidity of government educated people who say they have no health CARE never ceases to amaze and infuriate me!

The latest piece of fabricated shit from Bill Burton, where idiot Joe Scoptic says he lost his job because of Romney, and consequently lost his health care is nothing more than a load of bullshit!  His wife had health INSURANCE for two years after the steel plant closed.  She died after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer SIX YEARS AFTER THE PLANT CLOSED!

Can ANY sensible person really think Mitt Romney was responsible for her death???  If she went to any E.R. in this country when sick, she would have been treated.  And I would pose the question - why didn't HIS SORRY ASS find another job?  The unemployment rate in 2002 was 4.8%.  At the beginning of 2006, it was 4.8% [link below].

And speaking of his sorry ass, you don't get to Stage 4 lung cancer without hacking up blood.  Where were you, JoeBoy.... were you paying attention to your wife?  What a colossal dumbass.  Seems to me like YOU were way more responsible for her death than Mitt Romney was!

You're a money grubbing sack of bull krap and I hope the DNC is paying you handsomely for your lies.  If I had ANY influence with the Romney campaign, I would be telling them to sue your pathetic lying ass for libel AND slander, because what you have done meets BOTH criteria!

The GS Technologies plant that Barack Obama has used to attack Mitt Romney was scheduled to be closed BEFORE Romney and his colleagues bought the plant and tried to help turn it around.

In 1993, GS Technologies, a company Bain Capital had invested in, purchased a struggling Kansas City steel plant from Armco. Prior to this investment, Armco announced plans to close the Kansas City plant if a buyer could not be found.
This investment – and $170 million in upgrades – kept the Kansas City plant competitive in a tough international market and saved the steel workers’ jobs for eight years.

Mitt Romney LEFT Bain Capital in 1998 to take over direction of the 2000 Winter Olympics.  The GS Technologies plant was closed in 2001 because of foreign steel dumping into the U.S. market. Thirty-one other steel companies declared bankruptcy during the same period.

The Obama campaign blamed Governor Mitt Romney for the demise of GST Steel company in a video they released in May. The plant closed in 2001. Mitt left Bain in 1999.  It seems Jonathan Lavine, acurrent Obama bundler, was actually in charge, at Bain, during that period when the layoffs occurred at GS Steel.  [Jonathan Lavine  is also managing director at Bain, bundling between $100,000 and $200,000 in contributions for the 2012 Obama Victory Fund, according to estimates released by the Obama campaign.]

The man in the video, Joe Soptic, lost his job at GS  Steel.  HIS WIFE WAS WORKING AT THAT TIME, AND CONTINUED TO WORK FOR TWO MORE YEARS during which time SHE HAD HEALTH INSURANCE FROM HER EMPLOYER.  She had an accident and quit work.  THAT is when she lost her insurance coverage!  In 2006 SHE DIED OF CANCER.

This ad is a complete fabrication.  The Obama campaign refused to denounce it, saying it’s a Super Pac ad.  UNFUKKINBELIEVABLE!

Joe Soptic is a liar and the Romney campaign would be wise to sue him for libel.  Perhaps that would prevent future liars from stepping into the political fray.

Note to Joe:  The private sector is not in business as a charity.  They either make money or they fold.  Bain Capital had INVESTORS – something that DEFINES a capitalist economy.  The investors include pension funds, charities, and universities. In fact, over half the money invested in private equity is from pension funds and charitable foundations alone.  The success of private equity investments helps provide secure retirements for seniors, allows charities to serve their communities, and provides universities with the resources they need to educate our youth.
