REMEMBER:  [Jan 6, 2013]  CAMP LEJEUNE,  North Carolina - A U.S. Marine pleaded guilty on Wednesday to urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban fighters [whom they thought had killed a fellow Marine] in Afghanistan and then posing for photographs in a scene captured in a widely circulated video on the Internet and denounced by world leaders.

Staff Sgt. Edward W. Deptola said he knew desecrating the corpses and posing for the "trophy photographs" was wrong and he offered no excuse for the behavior during his court martial at North Carolina's Camp Lejeune.

"I was in a position to stop it and I did not," said Deptola, a native of Southold, New York, and married father of two.

Although the judge presiding at Deptola's trial recommended a stiffer sentence, the maximum penalty he will face under the terms of a pre-trial agreement is a reduction in rank to sergeant.

Daniel Pearl was held for more than a week by the militants and then beheaded - allegedly by Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, one of the architects of the Sept. 11 attacks.

His body was found, beheaded and mutilated, in a shallow grave outside Karachi. Pakistan's links to militant Islamic groups became an increasing topic of discussion in the corridors of power in Washington.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev admitted to authorities Sunday that he and his brother were behind the Marathon bombings, according to a senior law enforcement official.

Tsarnaev made his admissions to FBI agents who interviewed him at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. He had not yet been given a Miranda warning.

Tsarnaev’s attorneys are certain to challenge the legal admissibility of those admissions, and other information he gave them, such as claiming that he and his brothers acted alone, and that his brother was radicalized in an extreme form of Islam in part because he opposed US actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

AN INTERESTING ASIDE: 

Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned.  In addition, both of Tsarnaev’s parents received benefits, and accused brother bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan were recipients through their parents when they were younger, according to the state.

ONE BOSTON BOMBER DEAD, THE OTHER ON THE RUN

A shootout in a residential neighborhood has left one policeman and one terrorist dead.  The other terrorists is on the run in a black Mercedes SUV.  This vehicle would seem to indicate that these two guys are well funded and not operating on their own.  The terrorists are believed to be brothers, with one being a student in Cambridge.  The surviving Boston bomb suspect identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19.

A Watertown resident, Andrew Kitzenberg, 29, said he looked out his third-floor window to see two young men of slight build in jackets engaged in “constant gunfire” with police officers. A police SUV “drove towards the shooters,” he said, and was shot at until it was severely damaged. It rolled out of control, Mr. Kitzenberg said, and crashed into two cars in his driveway.

The two shooters, he said, had a large, unwieldy bomb that he said looked “like a pressure cooker.”

The news channels are showing two young men handcuffed and sitting on the curb but no explanation yet who they might be.  One sure looks like the bomber pictured wearing the white hat.

I wonder how many residents in the Boston area will be out shopping for guns when the stores open today (if there ARE any gun stores left in Massachusetts.)

Three cheers for Mass. law enforcement for saving taxpayers tons of money prosecuting 50% of these terrorists.

TERROR? OR RECREATIONAL VIOLENCE?

I just read a short article in the Weekly Standard on line, by Daniel Halper, about the bombings yesterday in Boston.  It refers to David Axelrod’s comment that Obama thinks the bombings had to do with ‘tax day’ rather than anything as sinister as ‘terrorism’ – hence Obama’s refusal to use that word in reference to the violence and FUCKING TERROR that took place during the Boston Marathon.

My first thought about this is – if this TERROR act had to do with tax day, why not blow up the frigging IRS building!  The courts would have never found a jury willing to convict the bomber!

Obama has a history of not calling TERROR what it is (Ft. Hood immediately comes to mind), and the reason is purely political and utterly disgusting.  He cannot HAVE acts of terror against Americans on his watch!  It would stain his legacy and show his lack of stones to interest in properly protecting this country.  His continual weakening of our military forces screams that he really couldn’t care less about the safety of the United States, both here and abroad.  Recall that he had to be FORCED by events to call Benghazi an act of terror – it was like pulling hens’ teeth, and he never really CALLED it that – he just danced around the idea that he did.

Anything that intentionally terrorizes people is an act of terror.  Boston WAS a terrorist act, no matter who set off those bombs.

Has Obama confirmed this yet?  WILL he?
