‘Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations that “the first duty of the sovereign, that of protecting the society from the violence and invasion of other independent societies, can be performed only by means of a military force.” Today, failing to protect our national security inevitably endangers our economic prosperity by making us vulnerable to global adversaries…. It is clear that President Obama does not agree with Smith’s wisdom. Obama’s policies are jeopardizing not only our national security and economy, but our constitutional sovereignty too.’
With this opening paragraph, John Bolton – writing at humanevents.com ( http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=45373 ) has dangled the possibility of a presidential run. Bolton has an impressive CONSERVATIVE resume (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_R._Bolton )
As we are still early in the Republican presidential candidate selection process, I think the more choices we have, the better we will be. Bolton has remained under the radar but there is no question in my mind that he is at least as well qualified as anyone out there right now, and far more qualified than most. He’s a serious man and very eloquent – don’t know that I’ve seen him use a teleprompter.
One thing that I think has to happen in the 2012 process is….. the Republicans need candidates for both the presidential AND the vice presidential slots to be candidates who have been totally vetted by the press. (We don’t have the luxury of being vetted like they vetted Obama.) The media hysteria after the selection of Sarah Palin took away from McCain’s message, pitiful as it was.
One of this man's most impressive credentials is that the left totally despises him and that's good enough for me! I submit that John Bolton would be a very formidable opponent for the community organizer.
