In 1971, the Mustang Ranch (originally named the Mustang Bridge Ranch) became Nevada's first licensed brothel, and eventually let to the legalization of prostitution.

In 1990 the federal government seized the Mustang Ranch from it's owner, who was apparently guilty of tax evasion.  As required by law, the government took it over and and attempted to run it.  They failed, and three months later it closed.

Now, we are trusting our ENTIRE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM to these same people -who couldn’t make money running a whore house and selling liquor‼!

AMAZON sells sugarfree Gummy Bears in a 5 lb. bag for about $25.  There is a TINY disclaimer on the bag that says

“Consumption of some sugar-free candies may cause stomach discomfort and/or a laxative effect.  Individual tolerance may vary.  If this is the first time you’ve tried those candies, we recommend beginning with one-fourth of a serving size or less.”  [NOTE:  A serving is 17 pieces]

Apparently this should be written in big, red letters!

Here is one (critical) review of this product – there are many others in the same vein.  I have never laughed so hard at ANYTHING since I can remember…… I love that Amazon has these reviews!  And there are more just like this one!

Oh man...words cannot express what happened to me after eating these. The Gummi Bear "Cleanse". If you are someone that can tolerate the sugar substitute, enjoy. If you are like the dozens of people that tried my order, RUN!

First of all, for taste I would rate these a 5. So good. Soft, true-to-taste fruit flavors like the sugar variety...I was a happy camper.

BUT (or should I say BUTT), not long after eating about 20 of these all hell broke loose. I had a gastrointestinal experience like nothing I've ever imagined. Cramps, sweating, bloating beyond my worst nightmare. I've had food poisoning from some bad shellfish and that was almost like a skip in the park compared to what was going on inside me.

Then came the, uh, flatulence. Heavens to Murgatroyd, the sounds, like trumpets calling the demons back to Hell...the stench, like 1,000 rotten corpses vomited. I couldn't stand to stay in one room for fear of succumbing to my own odors.

But wait; there's more. What came out of me felt like someone tried to funnel Niagara Falls through a coffee straw. I swear my sphincters were screaming. It felt like my delicate starfish was a gaping maw projectile vomiting a torrential flood of toxic waste. 100% liquid. Flammable liquid. NAPALM. It was actually a bit humorous (for a nanosecond)as it was just beyond anything I could imagine possible.

AND IT WENT ON FOR HOURS.

I felt violated when it was over, which I think might have been sometime in the early morning of the next day. There was stuff coming out of me that I ate at my wedding in 2005.

I had FIVE POUNDS of these innocent-looking delicious-tasting HELLBEARS so I told a friend about what happened to me, thinking it HAD to be some type of sensitivity I had to the sugar substitute, and in spite of my warnings and graphic descriptions, she decided to take her chances and take them off my hands.

Silly woman. All of the same for her, and a phone call from her while on the toilet (because you kinda end up living in the bathroom for a spell) telling me she really wished she would have listened. I think she was crying.

Her sister was skeptical and suspected that we were exaggerating. She took them to work, since there was still 99% of a 5 pound bag left. She works for a construction company, where there are builders, roofers, house painters, landscapers, etc. Lots of people who generally have limited access to toilets on a given day. I can't imagine where all of those poor men (and women) pooped that day. I keep envisioning men on roofs, crossing their legs and trying to decide if they can make it down the ladder, or if they should just jump.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE AMENDMENT

Congress needs to pass an amendment making ENGLISH the official language of this country.

I'm listening to Ms. Sebelius explain the disaster that is just the Obamacare WEBSITE.... A WEBSITE THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER HAS ALREADY PAID OVER $600,000,000 FOR.... and she said something that I had not thought about.

EVERYTHING TO DO WITH OBAMACARE, including the CF that is the website...... is also being produced in SPANISH!  WTF!

For YEARS government at all levels has been producing documents in multi-language formats.  For years, all of society has been having to 'PRESS 1 FOR ENGLISH'.  Anyone have any idea how much this is costing the public and private sector?  What about school systems nationwide TEACHING non-English speaking kids in their native language - any idea what that is costing us?

I have no problem with legal immigration.  I DO have a problem with this country spending resources we don't have on krap that ultimately keeps this country divided.  No where else in the world will you find countries that do NOT have an official language and who operate, as we do, in a plethora of non-official languages.  Learning English should be a requirement for citizenship AND for the benefits we so generously give to immigrants.  We have operated 'outside' the English language long enough.

We need to make English the national language, and we need to start spending resources on teaching English to our immigrants.

APPLE..... APPLE ANYONE?

My computer, Windows based like so many people have, is dying a slow and painful death, and I'm seriously thinking of going MAC with my next purchase.

But I have SO MUCH krap on my laptop that I don't want to lose, so I'm looking for info about Apple machines.  Specifically....

• What happens to everything on this machine that's DOS-based, like my Word documents, my Excel spreadsheets, etc.
• Will all my pictures transfer?
• Same for all my music?
• Can I still get to Blogger to do my blogs?  (I'm assuming that's a YES)
• What's the story on viruses?  Do I need my current virus protection software (which has two more years to run)
• I use Carbonite for my back-up.... will that work on a Mac?

What do I need to know before I switch?  I'm NOT a techie so I don't even have sense enough to ask the right questions.

Anyone with answers, please give me a yell..... and please - share any additional info that I was too dumb to ask about!

OBAMACARE - TRYING TO PASS THE BUCK(S) ON THE ACA

As I sit here, gritting my teeth and watching the House committee questioning the heads of the various sub-contractors involved in the debacle that is healthcare.gov I'm totally amazed there are problems with the government's much-ballyhooed web site.

Background:

CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) is an operating division within HHS overseeing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.  It’s been much mentioned in the early testimony, inferring that this group was the aggregator for the technical ‘product’ provided by the aforementioned contractors. 

CMS has also assured Congress, in hearings back in 2011 during the start-up for healthcare.gov that …’CGI did not receive any sole source awards. They competed for the work on our multiple award contract….’  CMS explained that there were 16 pre-qualified bidders, and that CGI was one of four bidders.  ‘On September 30, 2011, CMS conducted a competitive procurement and selected CGI Federal to design and develop the FFM.’  [FFM = Federally Facilitated Marketplace - the technical term for the Obamacare exchange.]

Apparently the 9/30/2011 testimony before Congress wasn't quite true.  CGI was 'selected' as the primary contractor without the required competitive procurement process being used in contractor selection.  CGI Federal (which by the way is a frigging CANADIAN company - please tell me why the F**K we are NOT hiring techs from OUR OWN COUNTRY!  It's not like our unemployment rate is 2%) 

On October 13, 2013, The Washington Examiner reported:

Rather than open the contracting process to a competitive public solicitation with multiple bidders, officials in the Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Medicare and Medicaid accepted a sole bidder, CGI Federal, the U.S. subsidiary of a Canadian company with an uneven record of IT pricing and contract performance. [1]

As an aside, by using an apparent loophole in the federal procurement system, CGI received ‘multiple awards’ for small contracts, and since 2009, have been awarded 185 separate ‘task orders’, which COULD give CGI up to $4 BILLION taxpayer bucks.

Additionally... on October 22, 2013, a Canadian report has documented how the primary company given hundreds of millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars – CGI -  for the still-inoperable website had built a reputation for failure, cost overruns and calamity for years before being hired by the Obama administration.

CGI’s ‘one qualification’…. ‘according to Sun News’ Brian Lilley, is that the company, CGI, seems “to do computers for all the right progressive causes such as government healthcare and gun control.”…..” Lilley reported the company had been fired because it failed to build a much smaller health care database in Ontario.” [2]

Anyone ever heard of ‘due diligence’?

Cheryl Campbell, the senior vice president of CGI testified today that THEIR part of the program worked fine.  She also said she was aware of 'glitches' in other parts of the program, but they were not in her scope, so CGI didn't notify CMS.  Again - WTF!?  How was this company selected?  I report, you decide....

The other three witnesses included officials from contractors associated with the launch, including Optum/QSSI, Equifax Workforce Solutions and Serco.  As each representative gave their opening remarks, it was totally clear that EACH CONTRACTOR HAD DONE THEIR PART AS NECESSARY, AND ‘THEIR’ PART OF THE PROGRAM WAS WORKING PERFECTLY.  It’s as if these four representatives have never met one another, never discussed how their technical work was to interact.  But clearly, EACH company represented in the hearing did their work, and did it perfectly.

Over $600,000,000 (that's half a BILLION) tax dollars have already gone down this black hole.  This week, Obama said he was calling in the 'best and brightest' to fix this problem.... and he calls VERIZON!  Confidence is NOT high.

This hearing is a total waste of time.  I have three questions for each of these people.  

• TO WHOM in the Obama administration did you report the last three years, if not the CMS?
• WITH WHOM did you coordinate laterally to make sure your 'product' could interface with theirs?
• WHERE DOES THE BUCK FOR THIS DEBACLE STOP!!?

Federal properties throughout the nation are closed to the people that OWN THEM….  

He closed the WWII monument (which is a SIDEWALK MONUMENT) to WWII vets IN WHEEL CHAIRS…. They simply moved the barricades and rolled in.  Since that day, the barricades have been reinforced.

Not only is the memorial at the base of Mt. Rushmore closed to the public – the scenic overlooks along the highway (those parking places where you can pull off the road and take in the view) are closed.  The National Park Service placed cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore this week, barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the famed monument.

The Obama administration allowed a massive rally for comprehensive immigration reform on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall, even though it is supposed to be closed due to the federal government shutdown.

Even the fricking Grand Canyon has been closed!

The Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has suspended its dog therapy program because of the government shutdown.  The dogs are provided by Therapy Dogs International and visited sick kids, including kids with cancer.  Program shut down by Obama.

In the North Carolina mountains, an innkeeper is trying to defy orders to close his facility along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  He receives NO federal money.

The website for the National Amber Alert was shut down.  Only after a huge national outrage was the website restored.  Note that Michelle Obama’s ‘Lets Move’ website remained up and running.

Ralph and Joyce Spencer, 77 and 80 years of age, respectively, were evicted from their home on Lake Mead in Nevada by an officious park ranger who told them they had 24 hours to vacate the premises. The Spencers own their home outright, but it sits on land leased from the federal government.  They have been living in the back of their store since this eviction.

AFN (Armed Forces Network), which brings delayed and LIVE broadcasts to military members and their families serving overseas has been switched off – except for the news.  This means no live sporting events.

And today we learn that death benefits for five fallen warriors are NOT being paid by the Pentagon.  This is an outrage!  And it underscores Obama’s complete disdain for the American military.

Everything listed above could be reversed with the stroke of that 'Executive Order' pen Obama so loves to use when it suits his agenda.  And I guarantee you that entitlement checks will not be late.

It is an absolute joke for a president, who picks and chooses which LAWS he wants to follow NOW says he's following the law regarding the government shutdown.

It's also an absolute LIE for Obama to insist that the debt limit be raised on the one hand, and to say the DEBT/DEFICIT will NOT increase on the other.

87% of the government is still up and running.

Over 800,000 NON-ESSENTIAL employees have been sent home, altho Congress voted last week to pay them for the time they've been furloughed - a nice vacation at taxpayers' expense.  I guess my definition for non-essential is obviously not the same as that of the government.  I think they should be sent home permanently - without pay, as in 'laid-off'.

I personally wouldn't care if they shut the thing down PERMANENTLY.  Maybe Americans would start taking responsibility for THEMSELVES again....

Two things happened [in the 2012 election].  Republicans had lost only eight House seats in the 2012 election, but with Obama’s victory the national mood seemed to have swerved in a liberal direction. Boehner and the House leadership, however, took the party in the opposite direction. It was a startling change, an unexpected but near-total victory for House conservatives.  And along with that, opposition to Obama’s agenda was significantly stiffened.

Did I mention that I'm GLAD the Republicans were unable to pass the delay for the individual obamacare mandate?  I say - let the pain begin!  I want the Dems to OWN THIS LAW twelve months from now!  And I hope they choke on it!

Over 800,000 non-essential federal employees have been sent home.  If they ARE non-essential, they should STAY home!  Think of the savings!

A Reuters video shows five ‘shockers’ of the government shutdown:

• FDA inspections of vegetables/fruits will stop; inspections of meat continues
• No panda-cam
• D.C. will not have street sweeping or trash collection (this ALONE could solve the problem with ‘government waste’ – bury the government in its own krap!)
• Websites of the SEC, NASA, USDA and others will go dark  (is this a PROBLEM?)
• The White House staff for the residence area – THE RESIDENCE AREA – will be cut from 90 to only 15‼!  (Awwwwwwww…. What EVER will Michelle do!?)

The great thing about this shutdown..... and it really isn't a RESULT of the shutdown, is that the Republicans failed to get the Personal Mandate for Obamacare delayed for a year.  This means individuals will NOW have to start purchasing GOVERNMENT MANDATED HEALTH INSURANCE. I say LET THE PAIN BEGIN!  I want the Democrats to OWN this disaster next November.
