Solyndra is just the tip of the iceberg. A company in TN that was building a 'green' truck stop that was decked out with electrical hookups so truckers wouldn’t have to run their diesel engines overnight has gone bankrupt.
Here’s the kicker– they received $424,000 in stimulus from the EPA and the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation after filing for bankruptcy. The company, Mountain Plaza, was run by an individual, Rick Lewis, who had a prior bankruptcy and criminal theft charges. According to the news report by the Tennessean newspaper the EPA did not require financial or criminal background checks. The “green” equipment, bought with US taxpayer dollars is now the property of US Bank.
Lewis filed for bankruptcy in 2003, a year after a conviction on 31 counts of theft. And Lewis currently faces indictments for allegedly writing worthless checks, according to court records.

Let’s see if we can get this straight– the EPA takes your tax dollars and gives them to an ALREADY BANKRUPT company, now that equipment is the property of a mega bank. And the taxpayer loses $424,000.!! Isn’t life great?
